Perspective
An interesting aspect in The Parable of the Sower is the frame in which the story is told, and by extension how writing impacts the story. While reading, I had to take a step back to remember that the events are indeed only told through Lauren, so what we perceive of the world is somewhat distorted. There are gaps in her writing, and times where she’s clearly traumatized surrounding, for example, her brother’s death. Different references to literature make the novel complex yet intriguing. Finally, the influence of one of the most important pieces of writing ever, the bible, can’t be ignored. It's good to see writing is still important, if not more, in a crumbling world.
